Mission Statement
Brighton & Hove Racial Harassment Forum RHF
RHF is a member organisation of individuals, groups and community representatives. We bring people and communities together with the help of our partners in the statutory, voluntary and community sector to combat hate crime incidents that are racially and religiously motivated. We aspire for a safer Brighton & Hove.

Our mission therefore is to:
- To increase reporting of racially and religiously motivated hate crime incidents, supporting our members with advocacy.
- To raise awareness of hate crime in Brighton & Hove in partnership and collaboration with Brighton and Hove City Council, Brighton & Hove Police and community groups and voluntary organisations.
- To provide training and run projects that up-skill, provide knowledge, build confidence, self-determination and safe environments to report incidents.
- To carry out research and consultations to ascertain the needs of affected individuals, communities and groups to measure impact of our approach, stay current to keep providing appropriate services and projects.
- To campaign and stand up for zero tolerance of hate crime in Brighton & Hove in partnership with cross sector organisations working in all the areas of hate crime to increase a unified voice and increase agency


The methods we achieve it by are as follows:
To identify and address the community safety needs of the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) and faith communities within the Brighton and Hove area with respect to the:
- Experience of crime and hate crime (including abuse, violence, literature and harassment).
- Fear of crime and hate crime
- Fear and experiences of other forms of discrimination
- To understand, combat and reduce racist and religiously motivated incidents, crimes and harassment in the City of Brighton & Hove.
- To increase the trust and confidence of (BME) people (individuals and communities) in mainstream statutory, community and voluntary organisations.
- To encourage, support and improve the reporting of all racist and religiously motivated incidents and crimes.
- To provide continuously improving responses for victims of racist and religiously motivated crimes and their families, to increase crime detection and to enable appropriate criminal justice remedies and civil remedies to be delivered to those victims.
- To inform the development and mainstreaming of policy and best practice in tackling racist and religiously motivated incidents.
- To effectively scrutinize and advise on the levels and trends of reported racist and religiously motivated incidents, performance and victim satisfaction with services by reviewing the statistical and evidence base for the City. The Forum will also scrutinise a whole range of statutory work practices within the area of racist and religiously motivated incidents and crimes, hold statutory authorities to account, and ensure that issues or barriers that are identified for the City are addressed by the relevant authorities.
